New Exec Elected + Outdoor Shooting

An eventful week this week. First up our new bosses have finally arrived after months of waiting!

Yesterday also saw the club’s annual general meeting, in which we elected the new exec for next year. Say hello to:
President: Matt McCormack
Safety & Equipment: Sam Evans
Treasurer: Ashley Teo
Captain: Mat Tripp
Training & Development: Chris Woodhead
Secretary: Lauren Baddeley
Socials: Michael Lindsay

The official handover between execs will happen at Roses (5th May).

That’s not all! This week we have been able to start shooting outdoors (at last!). Shoots will run on Wednesday afternoons and Sundays, when conditions allow. Extra shoots will also happen if there are enough people wanting it, the facebook group is the best way to keep up to date on this

NEUAL Indoor Championships 2012

Yesterday saw the NEUAL champs in Liverpool, full results of which can be found here. Despite an impressive team score of 2202 (averaging over 550 per archer!) the senior team were narrowly beaten by Sheffield, but were still able to claim 2nd place. A good effort from the novice team secured 6th, respectable against some of the highest novice scores seen in NEUAL.

Individual results were also very strong with medals won by Matt Evans (2nd, longbow) and Mat Tripp (3rd, barebow). We also took 4th, 5th and 7th in senior male recurve (Matt McCormack, Kevin Toutain, and Mat Smith respectively), 4th place in senior female recurve (Sally Morris) and 4th place in novice female recurve (Laura Bestwick). If only there were medals for 4th place we’d have quite a haul!

Well done to everyone that shot, Lancaster was well represented this year!

Updates

New content has been added to the Resources page, and the results page has been reformatted so that the newest results are at the top (hopefully more convenient this way).

Also, important reminder! The club’s AGM is taking place on Thursday 8th March at 7pm in Frankland LT. Really essential for all club members to be there, but if you really can’t make it then please email the club account with apologies.

Coaching Talk – Shot Sequence & Psychology

Hi guys,

Finally this term I’ll be doing a talk on something other than equipment! This session will focus on developing a consistent shot sequence, finding a good rhythm to your shooting, and some tips on getting your head in the right place to shoot at the best possible. This is a topic I honestly think will benefit almost everyone in the club, so I hope lots of you can make it
It will be taking place next Monday (27th) at 6.30pm in Cavendish Lecture Theatre
Cheers
Matt

New Exec Nominations

Hi everyone,

So it is nearly that time where we, the exec, are nearing the end of our time as the archery clubs exec.
Nominations for the new exec are opening this Friday (17th) at 7pm, and close at 9pm on the 2nd March. We will be holding the general meeting to vote on the new exec sometime during week 8 (exact date will be given out closer to the time). Sign up sheets will be up at every archery shoot, and if you don’t have time to turn up to the shoot to put your name down then please email the club account (archery@lancaster.ac.uk)
Details of exec positions are given on the documents section of the LUAC facebook page (and in the documents section of the website) – if you cant find it then email and we will send you a copy. To be a part of the executive committee, you need to be a fully paid member of the club, you also need two people to second your nomination.
Any problems then  don’t   hesitate  to  harass  the current exec for information and advice.
Thanks
Sally

Equipment Workshop

Hey all,

Due to popular request the equipment workshop that was run last week will be repeated next week on Monday 6th Feb @ 6pm in Furness LT1. For those that missed the 1st time, this covers information on how to keep your equipment well maintained as well as how to set it up for maximum performance.
And since this is my second time doing it, odds are it’ll be better run that the first time through!
Hope to see many of you there
Cheers
Matt
