Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone that came to the AGM, it was great to see such a turnout!
For those that weren’t there, here is the elected exec for next year:
President – Matt McCormack
Treasurer – Gemma Ainsworth
Safety & Equipment – Laura Hodgkinson
Captain – Adam Shorrock
Secretary – Alice Johnson
Training & Development – Tom Wilson
Social & Publicity – Isabel Saunders
Congratulations to them, and to everyone that ran for a position. These guys will officially take over at Roses (4th May)
We also made changes to the constitution, to reduce the quorum required for general meetings to a more manageable level. Check it out here
Hi everyone! Only a few days to go until things start up again, hope you’re all excited to get back into it, or join us for the first time 🙂
Here’s what we’ll be up to in the next week or so:
Wednesday 3rd Oct, 12:30 – 13:00 Activities showcase in Alex Square; We’ll have a stall set up for prospective members to come meet us, have a look at some equipment and find out more about us
Wednesday 3rd Oct, 16:00 – 19:00 Grad Fair in Barker House Farm; We’ll be promoting ourselves and looking to hopefully recruit some postgraduate students into the LUAC family. Also a chance for returning members to come and pay membership
Thursday 4th Oct, 12:00 – 17:00 Fresher’s Fair in the Great Hall; This is the big one! We’ll have a stall set up for promoting ourselves, recruiting new members, and giving out as much info as we can (expect a lot of flyers!!) Again a perfect chance for returning members to pay their fee (hint hint)
The membership fee for 2012/13 will be £30 for the year, covering cost of all sessions and equipment use as always. For beginner’s the first session will be free so that you can get a taste of it before needing to commit. Also, as of this year it is not necessary to have a purple card to join, you just need your LUSU number which everyone should have already.
The first beginner’s sessions for new members will be on Tuesday 9th Oct (9am-11am) and Friday 12th Oct (7pm-9pm).
For returning members there will be a session on Friday 5th Oct (4pm – 6pm) which will be used to shoot a scoring round so we can where everyone is up to (and gives everyone a fair chance towards team selection)
Phew! That was a lot of text haha. Hope to see you all soon 🙂
An article on us has just been published in the online edition of Lancaster’s student newspaper SCAN, written by our very own Lauren Baddeley. Click here to see it!
An eventful week this week. First up our new bosses have finally arrived after months of waiting!
Yesterday also saw the club’s annual general meeting, in which we elected the new exec for next year. Say hello to:
President: Matt McCormack
Safety & Equipment: Sam Evans
Treasurer: Ashley Teo
Captain: Mat Tripp
Training & Development: Chris Woodhead
Secretary: Lauren Baddeley
Socials: Michael Lindsay
The official handover between execs will happen at Roses (5th May).
That’s not all! This week we have been able to start shooting outdoors (at last!). Shoots will run on Wednesday afternoons and Sundays, when conditions allow. Extra shoots will also happen if there are enough people wanting it, the facebook group is the best way to keep up to date on this
New content has been added to the Resources page, and the results page has been reformatted so that the newest results are at the top (hopefully more convenient this way).
Also, important reminder! The club’s AGM is taking place on Thursday 8th March at 7pm in Frankland LT. Really essential for all club members to be there, but if you really can’t make it then please email the club account with apologies.
So it is nearly that time where we, the exec, are nearing the end of our time as the archery clubs exec.
Nominations for the new exec are opening this Friday (17th) at 7pm, and close at 9pm on the 2nd March. We will be holding the general meeting to vote on the new exec sometime during week 8 (exact date will be given out closer to the time). Sign up sheets will be up at every archery shoot, and if you don’t have time to turn up to the shoot to put your name down then please email the club account (email@example.com
Details of exec positions are given on the documents section of the LUAC facebook page (and in the documents section of the website) – if you cant find it then email and we will send you a copy. To be a part of the executive committee, you need to be a fully paid member of the club, you also need two people to second your nomination.
Any problems then don’t hesitate to harass the current exec for information and advice.
Got bored, made the club a new website. Enjoy it while it’s all new and shiny, before it gets all cluttered up with valuable archery information, exciting club news, and other annoying junk like that.
